Grocery stores: Cozumel has three large grocery stores on the island (Chedraui and two San Francisco Supermarkets). All have in-store bakeries, delis, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, seafood, canned goods, etc.
Specialty stores: There are several specialty stores where you can find imported meats and cheeses and specialty items (Angus beef, Argentinian sausage, turkey, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc.)
Liquor, beer and wine: Sold in all of the supermarkets. Best selection is at Covi's, located just north of San Francisco on 30th.

Shopping on the mainland:
Shopping on the mainland is easy. Take the ferry to Playa del Carmen (a 30-minute ride). You'll find a number of stores in Playa del Carmen, including a Sam's Club. You can also go to Cancun (about 45 minutes) where you'll find many, many stores, including a Sears, Costco, Sam's Club, Homemart and may others.

Eat your heart out with everything from world class dining to small-time mom and pop establishments. You'll find Mexican, Italian, Creole, Chinese, Philippine, Indonesian, American and more. You can find all of your food favorites in Cozumel: pizza, tacos, fresh fish, shrimp, lobster, chicken, hot dogs, burgers, steak, fresh baked homemade breads and rolls. In addition, there are a number of fast food chains on the island, including McDonald's, Burger King, Baskin Robbins, Domino's, Pizza Hut and Subway. You definitely have many, many dining choices in Cozumel.
Nightlife: Cozumel has many bars and nightclubs. Some offer live music, DJs or karoake. Choose from quiet and quaint little bistros to outrageous rocking and rolling hot spots.

Island Museum: Cozumel has one museum located downtown with displays that include island history and a replica of a Mayan home
Punta Sur: A park area on Cozumel's southern point has a light house museum, tours to see the crocodiles in the lagoon and pontoon boat tours of the lagoon
Sunday Fiestas: There is a fiesta every Sunday evening in the central plaza. Live music, dancing, food and fun are enjoyed by all. The fiesta has been a tradition on the island for years.
Carnival: A week-long event celebrated prior to Easter features parades, costumes, dancing, fireworks and plenty of partying.

Independence Day: A September celebration with fireworks and fun.
Festival of Cedral: End of April, early May. The village of Cedral overflows with people during this celebration. Live music, beer and food tents, carnival games, rodeo events, horse racing and more.

Airports: Several major airlines, as well as a number of charter airlines serve Cozumel's airport. If you're coming from Houston, the flying time is a only a couple of hours. Flight time from Minneapolis is 3.5 hours. Some of the airlines serving Cozumel include Northwest, Continental, American, Sun Country, plus others.
There is also a major airport in Cancun with daily flights. If flying into Cancun, you would take the ferry to Cozumel.
You can fly from Cozumel and/or Cancun to a number of destinations throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and the world!

Passenger Ferry Service: Two companies offer passenger service between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. Ferry takes 30 minutes to cross and costs approximately $9. Ferry service operates 7 days per week with multiple crossing each day.
Car Ferry Service: Offered 7 days a week, the car ferry is for personal cars or trucks (no rental cars).
Cruising: Cozumel is a popular port for cruise ships. Cozumel is the embarkation point for one ship that visits the Cuba and the Cayman Islands.
Bus Service: On the mainland there is an excellentand extensivebus system. Leave the driving to someone while you relax and enjoy the scenery. Buses are an inexpensive and reliable means to explore the mainland of Mexico.
